Dr. Margot Chima
Board-Certified Dermatologist in New York
Dr. Margot Chima, MD, FAAD is a board-certified dermatologist specializing in cosmetic and medical dermatology, providing personalized, evidence-based care for patients of all ages. Recognized by her peers for excellence in the field, she has been named a Castle Connolly Top Doctor, New York Metro Top Doctor, and Westchester Magazine Top Doctor. Known for combining deep academic expertise with a warm, individualized approach, Dr. Chima believes that exceptional dermatologic care should be both highly specialized and thoughtfully tailored to each patient.
Education and Training
Dr. Chima graduated with honors from the University of Michigan before earning her medical degree — also with honors — from the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Medicine on a scholarship. She completed her Dermatology Residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where she was selected by faculty and peers as Chief Resident. She also completed a Fellowship in Dermatopharmacology at Mount Sinai, during which she trained under internationally recognized leaders in dermatology.
Academic Leadership
Dr. Chima continues her affiliation with Mount Sinai as a Clinical Instructor, where she remains actively involved in resident education — one of her deepest professional passions.
Dr. Chima offers the most advanced cosmetic treatments available — including neuromodulators, biostimulatory and hyaluronic acid fillers, platelet-rich plasma (PRP), and laser therapies — always with an emphasis on natural, long-lasting results through minimally invasive techniques. An accomplished researcher, she has authored peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and abstracts, including a review on wound care protocols following CO2 laser resurfacing and a chapter on IL-17A inhibitors in the definitive reference Comprehensive Dermatologic Drug Therapy (Elsevier, 4th ed.). She has served as an investigator on more than 35 clinical trials for conditions including psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, alopecia areata, and vitiligo.
Professional Leadership
Dr. Chima is an active member of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) and the Women’s Dermatologic Society (WDS), among other professional organizations. She previously served on the AAD Practice Operations Committee and was selected for the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery’s (ASDS) Future Leaders Network.
Outside the Office
Though she was born in Westchester and raised in the Midwest, Dr. Chima is thrilled to have found her way back to her roots and to be building her practice in the community where her story began. She is married and the mother of a young son and their beloved dog. Outside of medicine, she enjoys cooking and hosting — Thanksgiving is one of her favorite events of the year — working on cross-stitch projects, and exploring the Hudson Valley with her family on weekends. She also has a deep love for tennis, with a game that remains very much a work in progress.
“Dermatology is deeply personal — your skin is with you every day of your life. I feel privileged to play a role in how my patients feel in it. Whether I am helping someone achieve a cosmetic goal or treating a medical skin concern, my approach is always the same: take the time to truly understand each patient, bring the very best of evidence-based medicine to the table, and create a plan that is as individual as they are. It is an honor to care for patients and their families in this community, and I look forward to building those relationships for years to come.”
