Dr. Leah Ansell, MD is a board-certified dermatologist specializing in cosmetic and medical Dermatology, providing thoughtful, comprehensive care for patients of all ages. Recognized by her peers for excellence in Dermatology, she has been named a Castle Connolly Top Doctor, New York Magazine Top Doctor, and Westchester Magazine Top Doctor and Top Cosmetic Dermatologist. Dr. Ansell is frequently sought out by national media for her expertise and has been featured and interviewed in leading publications including The New York Times, Vanity Fair, and New York Magazine, among others. Known for combining academic expertise with an approachable, personalized style, she believes exceptional dermatologic care should be both highly specialized and tailored to each patient.
Education and Training
A third-generation physician, Dr. Ansell grew up in the Chicago-area and graduated cum laude from Dartmouth College before earning her medical degree from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. There, she was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha, the national medical honor society recognizing top graduating medical students, and received the Phi Rho Sigma Prize for highest overall standing and outstanding performance in medical school. Dr. Ansell completed her Internship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, followed by Dermatology Residency at Columbia University/NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, where she served as Chief Resident.
Academic Leadership
Today, Dr. Ansell serves as Assistant Professor of Dermatology at Columbia University, where she teaches and lectures on cosmetic dermatologic techniques to the Columbia Dermatology Residents and remains actively involved in academic dermatology.
Prior to moving to Westchester, Dr. Ansell practiced on Manhattan’s Upper East Side alongside renowned cosmetic dermatologist Dr. Ellen Gendler. She brings that same level of expertise and aesthetic care to patients throughout the Westchester-area.
Dr. Ansell cares for patients across all stages of life and considers one of the greatest privileges of dermatology to care for entire families across generations. She values the long-term relationships that develop over time and enjoys partnering with patients through each stage of life and skin health journey. Alongside comprehensive medical dermatology care, she has extensive experience in cosmetic dermatology and offers the most advanced treatments including injectables, lasers, skin tightening, platelet-rich plasma (PRP), microneedling, and chemical peels- all with an emphasis on skin health and long-lasting, natural results.
Commitment to Service
Outside of her clinical practice, Dr. Ansell has participated in medical mission and volunteer work in Haiti, the Dominican Republic, and Rwanda, providing dermatologic and general medical care in underserved communities. She values the opportunity to combine medicine with service and believes these experiences continue to shape her approach to patient care.
Outside the Office
Outside of medicine, Dr. Ansell is a mother of 4 children, is married to an ICU-critical care physician and enjoys cooking, entertaining, spending time with friends, checking out Broadway shows and reading her Kindle.
